What is Schools Will Rock You?

Schools will rock you is a new and unique initiative launched by Queen and Ben Elton and the prouducers of WWRY the hit Musical


It aims to make the magic of the giant hit musical We Will Rock You available to schools and educational establishments, to enable them to develop and stage their own version of the show, learning and enjoying every aspect of putting together a stage production along the way. Schools Will Rock You will offer information, expertise, tools and support to help all schools and societies to plan and ultimately produce their own performance of the show.Your 'Schools Will Rock You' Licence: Summary To qualify for a Schools Will Rock You licence, you MUST fulfill all of the following criteria. Please note that these rules supersede all previous rules.
Your licence is for school productions only. This means primary schools through to secondary schools and sixth form colleges but not drama or performing arts schools.
Your production must take place on your school’s premises and the performance venue must have a seating capacity of 350 or less unless we otherwise approve in writing.
Your production must not be run for profit. This means that ticket prices must be set so that they are only intended to cover the costs of your production.
We cannot allow you to make or permit others to make any recordings (audio or video) of your production.
You may only advertise your production on your school’s premises, in your school’s printed literature (for example, your school’s magazine or in newsletters to parents), or on your school’s website.
When you are advertising your production, you may only use the logo, posters and other advertising materials supplied on www.schoolswillrockyou.com. You may not use the logo or the advertising materials from the West End production of “We Will Rock You” or from any other professional production of the show. You may not register any new website domain name for your production or create any new logo for your production. Other criteria can be seen in the FAQ section of this site or you can email us at info@schoolswillrockyou.com for more information.HOW CAN I APPLYPlease note we will not be issuing any new licences until September 2008. You can submit your details by clicking the Licence button aboveWHAT DO I RECEIVE?Schools and educational establishments will be able to download all the info they need from this website, including:
The official script (original and primary school edit)
The piano score (PVG version)
Expert one-to-one videos with the hit team who helped plan and stage the real worldwide production including, Brian May, Ben Elton, Mark Fisher (production designer), Willie Williams (lighting designer), Tim Goodchild & Joy Bondini (costumer design), Mike Dixon (Music Supervisor) Bobby Aitken (sound designer) and more.
Artwork including tickets, posters and flyers that schools can print out and personalise with their own information. FANTASTIC EXTRASIn addition, there will be an opportunity to buy a complete recorded band backing track for the entire show, if having a live band is not possible, plus the free unique support of an online community. Schools can swap ideas, tips, tricks and stories on how they are producing their show, creating a big Schools Will Rock You network. This community will be moderated and supported by a theatrical specialist to help everyone get the most of out of the interaction.Now could be your time to discover your own Galileo and Scaramouche and rock the planet... one chance, one dream, one vision!
